Coach Murmann:
Coach Murmann began his teaching career in 1975 at Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst. He taught, coached football, track, and helped with the start of the girls basketball program before moving to Schaumburg High School in 1982.
Coach Murmann started to teach at Schaumburg High School in 1982 in addition to coaching freshmen football and freshmen boys basketball. In 1983 he began coaching girls basketball at Schaumburg and varsity football at Palatine High School for two years before returning to coach varsity football at Schaumburg. He has been a varsity assistant coach in football at Schaumburg since 1985 coaching both offensive and defensive lines.
He was the defensive line coach on the varsity football team in 1999 when the
Saxon played in the state championship game against Naperville Central.
His footbal coaching career at SHS ended in 2007 when he decided a change was in
order and intended on pursuing a different direction in the sport. Coach Murmann was a lower level basketball coach at Schaumburg from 1982 until 1991 with a record of 150-35. In 1992 he assumed the position of varsity assistant at Schaumburg for three years before leaving to become the head girls basketball coach at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights. While at St. Viator his teams won the Wheeling Thanksgiving Tournament twice, Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament once, St. Viator
Snowflake Christmas Tournament Championship five times, and won the first girls
regional championship in school history before advancing to a sectional
championship. In his first season as head coach at Schaumburg High School the
Saxons finished in second place as a member of the Mid-Suburban West Conference
and had an 18 win season. The 2004-2005 varsity team finished the season with a
21-10 record and was the Mid-Suburban League West Division Conference
Co-Champions. In 2005-2006 the Saxons achieved a record of 25-9 while
winning the Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament and the Wheaton North Christmas
Tournament. The Saxons also won the Regional Championship while advancing
to the Sectional Finals to ultimately lose to #1 ranked Maine South. In
2006-2007 the Saxons finished with a record of 21-13 and again won their second
consecutive Regional Championship and defeated #1 ranked Maine South in the first game of
the Sectionals to advance to the Sectional Championships for the second year in
a row.
Coach Murmann is a graduate of Elmhurst College with a double major in Biology and Physical Geography. He received his masters degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has 50 post-graduate hours from Northern Illinois University. He is currently teaching Advanced Placement Biology, Social Implications to Biology, and freshmen Biology.
Coach Kassner:
Coach Kassner is a graduate of Conant High School having played varsity basketball for two years. She graduated from Conant High School and attended Lindewood University on a basketball scholarship after which receiving her bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University with a major in History and Secondary Education. She is presently teaching U.S. History and Psychology at Schaumburg High School. In addition to teaching in the Social Science Department, Coach Kassner is involved in the Heart Program,
and the Peer Mediation Program. While Coach K. still has the roar of the "cougar" deep down in her subconscious, she now has the cardinal red and gold flowing through her veins!
Coach Stevens:
Coach Stevens is a graduate of Schaumburg High School. While at Schaumburg High School Coach Stevens participated on the basketball and volleyball teams for four years in addition to being involved in a variety of clubs and activities. She attended Illinois State University and graduated with a bachelors in Social Work and a minor in Spanish. Coach Stevens received her masters degree in social work from Aurora University and is currently employed as a social worker at Golfview Elementary School in Carpentersville. In addition to coaching basketball at the freshmen level, Coach Stevens also coaches volleyball and track at Schaumburg High School.
Coach Mills:
Coach Mills has just recently been hired by District 211 to teach in the Business Department at Schaumburg High School. She is coming to us after do her student teaching at Hinsdale South High School this past year where she also helped out with the coaching duties of the Sophomore basketball team. She is a four year basketball player from Ottawa High School and also played collegiate basketball at Millikin University. Welcome to Saxon territory Coach Mills!!!!
Coach Colloton:
Coach Colloton is a recent addition to the coaching staff at Schaumburg High School. He brings a wealth of experience having been the varsity assistant in girls basketball at Wheeling High School for a number of years in addition to coaching at the club basketball level with the "Hustle".
