Forming a conclusion about the author's meaning using background knowledge and textual clues
Steps to Inferring:
- Preview text features and predict.
- Identify text structure.
- View/listen/read the text to make inferences or "read between the lines":
-Look at specific text clues
-Incorporate your background knowledge
-Make an inference
-Check to make sure all clues match your inference - Summarize the key points and main idea
