Parking/Driving Rules and Regulations
1st Semester 07/08
 


1.  Parking permit applications are due Thursday, August 23rd by 4 pm.

2.  A waiting list will be established for students eligible for parking permits but who did not meet the Aug. 23rd deadline for submitting parking permit applications.

3.  Only students who are class of 2008 who have a valid driver's license will be eligible to purchase parking permits.  Students with "blue slips" or with driving permits will not be eligible.

4. Only students who are class of 2008 will be eligible to receive a parking permit.  Students must present a current Schaumburg High School I.D. card in order to receive a parking permit.   

5.  Names of seniors (class of 08) who meet the Aug 23rd deadline and have a valid driver's license and student I.D. will be placed in a lottery to purchase parking permits.  The lottery list will be posted outside of the attendance office on Friday, Aug 24.  Announcements will be made for seniors on the lottery list to purchase their permits Mon, Aug 27 or Tues, Aug 28.  Seniors whose names are picked in the lottery but don not purchase their permits by Aug 28 at 4 pm will not receive a parking permit for that semester.  Seniors eligible for the lottery but who do not receive a permit will remain on the waiting list.

6.  Parents and school authorities have the right to revoke a student's parking privilege at any time.  The parking tag will be confiscated and fees forfeited for that semester.

7.  The individual school is not liable for any damage, theft, injury or death that may occur as a result of a person driving to school or parking on school property.

8.  Students who use a vehicle to violate any school regulation, village ordinance, state law, or federal law shall lose their school driving privileges.  Student vehicles are subject to search by school officials. 

9.  Possession and/or use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco by any person, regardless of age, is strictly prohibited on the entire grounds of any District 211 school.  This policy applies to persons in vehicles on school property as well. 

10.  Students shall not loiter in vehicles or parking areas.

11.  Improper parking, such as parking in a reserved or no parking zone, a faculty area, aisles, or non-display of school parking tag may result in disciplinary action, loss of privileges, and the issuances of a parking citation and fine.  Violators may have their parking permit revoked and/or their vehicle towed at owner's expense and face school disciplinary consequences.  There will be no warnings issued. 

12.  Each vehicle driven to a District 211 school must have a valid parking tag displayed.  Students and faculty/staff must display their respective tags appropriately.  Motorcycles must be registered as well, with sticker displayed properly. 

13.  The student parking tag must be hung on the rear view mirror so that the number is visible from the front of the vehicle.  The student parking sticker must be displayed on the driver side of the rear window. 

14.  Student parking is restricted to parking spaces which do not have a white line across the entrance to the parking space.  Staff parking is indicated by a white line across the entrance to the parking space.

15.  The school is not responsible for lost or stolen parking tags.  Parking stickers or tags which are LOST OR STOLEN will NOT be replaced.  New vehicle purchases must be reported to the attendance office with the new vehicle information.

16.  There will be no refund of the student parking user fee for the current semester.  There will be no temporary or emergency tags/stickers issued.

17.  Students may purchase only one parking tag per semester.

18.  Parking tags/stickers issued beginning Aug 27 are valid for 1st semester only.  Parking tag/stickers for 2nd semester 2008 must be displayed beginning Jan 23, 2008.  Parking tags/stickers for first semester will be void beginning Jan 23, 2008.

19.  Parking stickers or tags are non-transferable and cannot be sold or given to another individual. 

20.  The opportunity to purchase and utilize a parking permit on campus is a privilege.  A student's pass will be revoked with no refund for attendance and discipline reasons.
