My students are the best and I am lucky to work with such outstanding young people. I know that I learn more from them than I am able to offer in return. The following poems were written by two seniors in 2004 and 2007 as part of English Literature assignments. I was very honored and proud to have been the subject of their work. I once knew a teacher named McGlynn, Who never knew what day he was in. He sang so well, like a ringing bell, His singing was like a sin. Missy Gurga, SHS ‘07 THE MUSIC
TEACHER And in this school, There was a teacher
of songs. On an electric
keyboard, He’d program the
dings and dongs. This fellow usually sports casual wear, Except for concerts, His tuxedo makes folks stare. He conducts time with motion of his span. Any average Joe could sing if he believes he can. Proper posture and breathing technique. Anyone can do it without missing a beat, You could even sing a lyrical song in a different tongue. In class his favorite
posters are hung, (With some photos
taken just for fun.) Charismatic behavior, wittily spouting a pun. He has dark hair and
is of medium height. And possesses a strong liberal might! He’d rather vote for Beelzebub himself, Than re-elect Bush to our hierarchy shelf. This choir director is one of a kind, Anyone would know this, even if they are blind. Tara Campbell, SHS ‘04
