As I begin my third complete year
as your Athletic Director, I have a complete understanding of the
challenges ahead. I am very fortunate to oversee a division
that has such a solid foundation. Schaumburg High School
possesses a dedicated staff that understands the value and
importance of a full and vivacious extra-curricular program. We
believe in and value the TOTAL student athlete experience. Our
athletes are students first and competitors second. To
exemplify this point, our district has raised its academic
expectations for student athletes. Students wishing to participate
on teams cannot fail and must maintain a 2.0 GPA for their quarter
of competition. To assist in this effort, our coaches have
implemented an Athletic Study Hall which will be offered in room 210
from 2:50-3:25 pm for in season student athletes who do not meet
expectations. Although I strongly encourage students-athletes
to attend tutoring during the course of the normal school day, this
after school option is also available. Our commitment to this
program confirms our fundamental philosophy that academics comes
first! |
