Explore Test
On Saturday, December 5, 2009, Schaumburg High School will administer the Explore test to current 8th grade students. Students should arrive to SHS no later than 7:45 a.m. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. The Explore test is used by the high school to assess student achievement and identify the correct level of courses for freshman year. Click here for an informational brochure about the Explore test administration.

The Explore test is part of a series of tests from the ACT Corporation. ACT has prepared a student-centered website regarding the Explore test. The website includes sample test questions that may help students gain a better understanding of the test's format prior to coming to Schaumburg on December 5. Click here to access the website. Explore test results will be mailed home in early January.

Student Enrollment
All 8th grade students must complete the enrollment process. This process includes turning in the following documents:

  • Township High School District 211 Master Enrollment Form
  • Proof of Residency
  • Child’s Original Birth Certificate

The Master Enrollment Form must be completed and signed by the child’s parent or guardian. Proof of Residency is satisfied by providing a current gas or electric bill that shows the name of the parent or guardian and an address within the Schaumburg High School attendance boundaries. A current signed lease indicating the names of the tenants, a contract documenting the purchase of a home, or a current property tax bill can be used to verify residency as well. An original certified birth certificate is required. All original documents will be photocopied and then returned to the parent or guardian.

All parents are asked to bring the required documents to the Registrar's Office no later than December 11. The office is open from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All original documents will be photocopied and returned. Additionally, parents may send the enrollment documents with their students on December 5. The documents will be processed while the Explore test is administered and then returned to the students before the test is completed.

Incoming Freshman Parent and Student Night
Parents and students of the Class of 2014 are invited to attend an evening program on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 starting at 6:00 p.m. This program will offer parents and students an opportunity to learn more about Schaumburg High School, the freshman course placement process, and the school's curriculum.

Questions about the Explore Test, the enrollment process, or events relating to the Class of 2014 can be directed to the Schaumburg Student Services office at 847-755-4630.
