At Schaumburg High School, our staff is committed to providing excellence in education and maximizing student learning. Truancies and being tardy to class have negatively impacted this intention as well as caused disruptions within the hallways and classrooms.
Our staff and the Schaumburg High School Discipline Team put forth great effort and attention to address and improve these issues through the implementation of “Tardy Sweeps”.
During a tardy sweep, classroom teachers will close their classroom door at the bell. Any student who is in the hall without a pass, or is not in their assigned area, will be issued a “tardy ticket” by an administrator. The “tardy ticket” is equivalent to one detention. That detention must be served within one week of being issued; failure to do so will result in additional consequences. Tardy sweeps will be done randomly throughout to year, and the times will either be announced or unannounced to the student body.
Any tardy that is received during these sweeps will not reflect on students’ attendance or discipline records. This new procedure has been explained through the PA announcements. Finally, if you have questions or would like more information about our new tardy procedures, please contact Mr. Hildebrand, Mr. Griffin, Mrs. Bullen, or Mrs. Rahn in the Discipline office.
