GRADING

Grading is based on total points earned.  Each assignment, quiz or test is given a point value.  A grade is determined by the percentage of possible points received.  The grading scale is as follows:

90% - 100% A
80% - 89% B
70% - 79% C
62% - 69% D
0% - 61% F

Grades will be posed on the web with a special ID number.  In this way, students and parents will always have access to grades.

ASSIGNMENTS

Each assignment is due when it is collected in class on the designated day.  In the case of an absence, assignments are due the day of return to class.  Assignments may be handed in one day late for half credit.

Homework assignments will either be turned in for a grade or will be checked for completion using a unit stamp sheet.  At the end of a unit, student stamp sheets will be collected and awarded points for each stamp obtained.  Stamps are awarded point values based upon the complexity of the assignment the stamp represents.  Assignments awarded stamps will be discussed in class allowing students to check for correctness.

ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance is essential for success in the class.  If a student is absent, he/she should follow the following procedures.

Before return to class, check the weekly calendar on Ms.  Williams web page to determine what was completed in class and if there is a homework assignment.

Have assignments picked up if possible.  Parents my call the school switchboard to request assignments for an absence of several days.

Pick up handouts missed from the daily folders on the side classroom shelving unit.

Get notes from a trusted classmate.

Check with Ms. Williams' for understanding of material and what needs to be accomplished.

Two days are allowed for make-up work after absences.  Additional days may be allowed for extended absences upon discussion with teacher.  If absent on a test day, a student is expected to take the test the day of return to school.
