S-131 Biology

131 is an introductory level freshman biology course designed to meet the state and district
science requirements.  Students in this class will study the basic concepts involved in the plant
and animal kingdoms in addition to how the surrounding abiotic environments affect them.   Course study will also cover a generalized survey of  human systems as presented by the teacher.  This information will supplement the regular year's activities to allow the student to further understand the biological principles involved in the human body.

S-443 Social Implications To Biology

Social Implications to Biology is a course designed to explore the various topics in Biology that require reflective thought and ethical standards.  Class discussions and group interaction are the focal point by which these issues are examined.  Personal opinion and the willingness to keep an open mind while exploring each topic are essential.  Every students position during each unit has merit as they travel through the world of biology.

S-449 Advanced Placement Biology

Advanced Placement Biology is an intensive course of study equal to that found at the freshman collegiate level.  This results in a major commitment by the student to apply the appropriate effort needed to succeed.  Additional at home time will be required to review notes and the textbook which will allow the student to grow as a modern day scientist.  A desire to excel at everyday tasks and receive college credit through the successful completion of the A.P. Biology exam is needed.  The course is divided into these major areas: organisms and populations, genetics and evolution, and biochemistry and the cell.
