Schaumburg High School's Senior of the Month

September | October | November | December | January | February | March | April| May

Senior of the month is an honor that is bestowed on selected seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities/athletics and service.  A selection committee that is comprised of 6 faculty members and the Activity Director meet once each semester to determine the nominees.  The student presents a biography and the nominating teacher composes a letter that exemplifies the students' accomplishments, contributions and attributes.  The letter and the student's photo is posted outside the attendance office in the main hallway showcase, as well as being featured on this page throughout the month that they are selected to represent.

FEBRUARY

Jessica Peters

We are proud to announce Jessica Peters as the February Senior of the Month.  Throughout her years at Schaumburg High School, Jessica has proven to be a leader both in the classroom and out. She has maintained a high academic standing despite the time that she devotes to many outside activities.  Jessica’s hard work, coupled with her willingness to help others, has distinguished her as a worthy recipient of this recognition.

In the classroom, Jessica’s success has been extraordinary in its scope.  She has achieved high marks in many fields, and constantly challenges herself in a variety of subjects. Her success has spanned diverse academic fields, which is a testament to her hard work and drive to succeed. Last year, her success was recognized with induction into the National Honor Society as well as her membership in the German Honor Society.

Outside of the classroom, Jessica employs her talents to help others. She volunteers her time in a variety of organizations to improve the lives of others. She is a member of the award-winning Saxon Band as well as orchestra. She heads the largest committee in the national Honor Society and is a member of the Speech Team. She participates in school drama and musical productions and plays on the lacrosse team. Amazingly, she still finds time to participate significantly outside of school in her faith community and through the park district. On the personal level, Jessica’s enthusiasm for life and sheer kindness have earned for her the admiration of her peers. She has embraced her high school years with enthusiasm, and is truly a leader among the student body.

Jessica’s future plans include continued service to others. In fact, her best high school member is the experience of participating in the Leadership for Life election presentation. She plans to attend Calvin College and major in political science, allowing her to continue her contributions to others. She states that her future goal as “I really want to help the world someday.” She already has, and undoubtedly her passion, drive, and dedication will allow her to continue this noble goal. We are proud to announce Jessica Peters as the February Senior of the Month.

Congratulations to  Jessica Peters
