Schaumburg High School's Senior of the Month

September | October | November | December | January | February | March | April | May

Senior of the month is an honor that is bestowed on selected seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities/athletics and service.  A selection committee that is comprised of 6 faculty members and the Activity Director meet once each semester to determine the nominees.  The student presents a biography and the nominating teacher composes a letter that exemplifies the students' accomplishments, contributions and attributes.  The letter and the student's photo is posted outside the attendance office in the main hallway showcase, as well as being featured on this page throughout the month that they are selected to represent.

JANUARY

Allyson Lopshire

We are proud to announce Allyson Lopshire as the January Senior of the Month.  Throughout her years at Schaumburg High School, Allyson has proven to be a leader both in the classroom and out. She has maintained a high academic standing despite the time that she devotes to many outside activities.  She has successfully balanced a strenuous academic load with significant volunteer activities both within as well as outside the school. Allyson’s hard work, coupled with her willingness to help others, has distinguished her as a worthy recipient of this recognition.

In the classroom, Ally’s success has been extraordinary in its scope.  She has achieved high marks in many fields, and constantly challenges herself in a variety of subjects. Her success has spanned diverse academic fields, which is a testament to her hard work and drive to succeed. Allyson is a member of the National Honor Society, a recognition of her academic abilities.

Outside of the classroom, Allyson employs her talents to help others. Her school involvement is extraordinary in its scope. Ally is a significant member of our drama department. She volunteers her time for the football program and serves as the head manager. She was the fundraising manager for the Junior class club and is a member of Senior class slub. She constantly seeks to contribute, whether to the school or the community. She is active in her faith community as a member of her church choir and her church service organization. Ally was crowned Miss Septemberfest this past fall in recognition of the community involvement and academic excellence.

On the personal level, Allyson’s enthusiasm for life and incredible work ethic have earned for her the admiration of her peers. She has embraced her high school years with enthusiasm, and is truly a leader among the student body. Allyson notes that her highlights of student life have been as a participant in supporting athletics at SHS, including her work as a manager of the football team. Despite all of the time that she devotes to classwork, athletics, and activities, she makes the time to support others in their endeavors as well.

Allyson Lopshire is truly an extraordinary person who contributes positively and selflessly in any situation she encounters.  She plans on attending the University of Notre Dame next year. She shines in her academic performance, and she freely shares her gifts with others. Allyson is an enthusiastic and talented individual, and we are proud to announce her selection as the January Senior of the Month.

Congratulations to  Allyson Lopshire
