Amanda Rooney
Schaumburg
High School is proud to recognize Amanda Rooney as the May Senior of the
Month. Mandy has distinguished herself in athletics, activities,
academics, and community service throughout her four years at Schaumburg
High School. She has excelled academically while still finding
considerable time to devote to extra-curricular activities as well as
volunteering for numerous service activities. She has been a class act
in every arena.
Mandy has a superlative academic record. She has been exemplary in the
classroom at Schaumburg, is one of the select few to be chosen as a
National Merit Finalist, and scored a perfect 36 on the act.

Mandy has also been involved in a multitude
of activities at Schaumburg. She played
basketball for two years, soccer for three
years, volleyball and orchestra for four years,
and is a member of the National Honor Society as
well as the French Honor Society. Her various
service activities include the Appalachia
Service Project where she helped to refurbish
homes for the less fortunate. She has been
recognized by several groups for her exceptional
service including the prestigious Youth
Leadership Award for Community Service and
Social Justice from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
When she is not studying or participating in
extra-curricular activities at Schaumburg, you
may find her at a local soup kitchen or
volunteering at other similar service projects.
Mandy is a visible personality at Schaumburg
High School. She is a generous, thoughtful,
moral young woman who maintains high personal
and academic standards. Mandy is energetic,
honest, hard working and highly motivated. When
asked what motivates her, she responded that
getting good grades for her future, staying
involved with her community, and the feeling of
gratification in helping others is what inspires
her to go above and beyond the norm. She plans
on attending the University of Minnesota next
year to study biomedical engineering.

truly is representative of the best that
Schaumburg High School has to offer.
