The litany of Megan Finneran’s accomplishments,
spanning all four of her years at
Schaumburg
High School, is
incredible. In her own words, she says that
“sometimes it’s as if I juggle 100 things at
once, but with hard work and determination,
anything is possible.”
Megan’s
extracurricular acrobatics started early when
she joined Freshman Club, Band, and Jazz Band;
in her freshman year, she was the Freshman Band
Representative; moreover, this began a string of
three consecutive years on the Straight “A”
Honor Roll.
Her leadership skills
continued to flourish sophomore year when she
was voted the Sophomore Class Club Secretary.
During this year, in addition to Band, Megan
joined Student-2-Student; she also became the
captain of her sophomore soccer team.

During her junior year, she joined the cross
country team, became sports editor for the
Sextant, and was selected as a member of the
National Honor Society. This year marked a
flurry of recognitions for Megan: Schaumburg
Athletic Award and Scholastic Achievement Award
during her fall and spring seasons; Foreign
Language Honor Society; third place at the
Illinois Sectionals for Sports Writing and
advancement to the state level of competition;
and recognition at the National Honors
Convention. She was a Recommended Lead America
Candidate at the Medicine and Health Care
Conference. With all these awards and
commitments, it should not come as any surprise
that Megan was voted
SHS’s favorite non-senior
female. If this were not enough, Megan also
found the time to be involved with
Vacation
Bible School
at the Church of the Holy Spirit for the last
four years.
For all of
these individual accolades, it is noteworthy
that one of Megan’s most memorable high school
highlights concerns student life at SHS. She says that she will always remember “when
the whole student body united as one to cheer
together” at various sporting events. Megan’s
reflections senior year could be read as advice
for all students at
SHS: “I strive to do my best
in all I do, so not getting good grades or not
being involved would be a waste of four years of
my life. I want to look back at high school,
knowing I did as well as I could have.”
This student
aspires to study psychology or pre-med with a
Spanish minor at the University of Notre Dame.
Congratulations to
Megan
