Schaumburg High School's Senior of the Month

September | October | November | December  | January | February | March | April | May

Senior of the month is an honor that is bestowed on selected seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities/athletics and service.  A selection committee that is comprised of 6 faculty members and the Activity Director meet once each semester to determine the nominees.  The student presents a biography and the nominating teacher composes a letter that exemplifies the students' accomplishments, contributions and attributes.  The letter and the student's photo is posted outside the attendance office in the main hallway showcase, as well as being featured on this page throughout the month that they are selected to represent.

OCTOBER

Alejandro H. Monzon

Schaumburg High School's October Senior-of-the-Month is a fine example of a student that rises above the norm and provides the effort needed to represent himself in a positive manner.  He is none other than Alejandro H. Monzon .

Alex Monzon is an excellent student which is represented by the fact that he has maintained academic honors for multiple semesters at Schaumburg High School and has also received I.H.S.A. scholastic achievement awards. In addition Alex has been a member of the French and Spanish Honor Societies while at Schaumburg.  He puts in a tremendous amount of effort in the classroom in order to succeed and often times exceeds the basic information which is exemplified by the quality of his questions which attempt to extrapolate the course content.  Hard work and effort are his cornerstone as he uses these qualities to also succeed in extra-curricular activities and athletics.

Alex Monzon has been a member of the Schaumburg football and basketball teams and is currently a starter on this year’s football team.  These commitments obviously require a great amount of time and when asked how he does it Alex replied, "Have the mentality of finding a way to get things done no matter what."  His participation does not end with athletics in that he is also involved outside the school environment.

Alex Monzon has been involved with St. Francis Church in Celaya, Mexico in many different capacities.  He also is involved with Direct Effect Charities and Letters to Santa which are local affiliations with the Pilson Academy in Chicago.  As he states, "I feel it's important to do my best in all aspects of my life."  A positive person with positive attributes can make a difference and Alex is one of those people who do make a difference.

  Congratulations to Alejandro H. Monzon
