Senior of the month is an honor that is bestowed on
selected seniors who have demonstrated excellence in
academics, extracurricular activities/athletics and
service. A selection committee that is
comprised of 6 faculty members and the Activity
Director meet once each semester to determine the
nominees. The student presents a biography and
the nominating teacher composes a letter that
exemplifies the students' accomplishments,
contributions and attributes. The letter and
the student's photo is posted outside the attendance
office in the main hallway showcase, as well as
being featured on this page throughout the month
that they are selected to represent.

Salwa Shameem

We are proud to announce
Salwa Shameem as the September Senior of the
Month.
Throughout her years at Schaumburg High
School, Salwa has proven to be a leader both in
the classroom and out. She has maintained a high
academic standing despite the time that she
devotes to many outside activities.
Salwa’s hard work, coupled with her willingness
to help others, has distinguished her as a
worthy recipient of this recognition.
In
the classroom, Salwa’s success has been
extraordinary in its scope.
She has achieved high marks in many
fields, and constantly challenges herself in a
variety of subjects. Her success has spanned
diverse academic fields, which is a testament to
her hard work and drive to succeed.
Salwa challenges herself academically, choosing
a schedule with multiple Advanced Placement
classes. Salwa is the President of the National
Honor Society, and her election to this post is
a testament to her peers’ respect of her
academic abilities.

Outside of the classroom, Salwa employs her
talents to help others. As a member of the
varsity Tennis team, she is recognized for
her skills as an athlete as well as her
leadership capabilities.
As Mr. Campbell, team coach states, “Salwa's
consistent effort, competitive determination
and positive attitude have helped her to
secure a starting position on Girls Varsity
Tennis roster.
Her participation and contributions are
appreciated by both her coaches and her
teammates.” She has worked for the school
newspaper, reflecting her drive for
journalism, and this year is a Co-Editor in
Chief for the paper. She is also a member of
the JV Debate team.
On
the personal level, Salwa’s enthusiasm for life
and sheer kindness have earned for her the
admiration of her peers. She has embraced her
high school years with enthusiasm, and is truly
a leader among the student body. Her impact
spans multiple activities and athletics; she
truly leads by example both in the classroom as
well as in and out of the school community.
Salwa
Shameem is truly an extraordinary person who
contributes positively and selflessly in any
situation she encounters.
She shines in her academic performance,
and she freely shares her gifts with others.
Salwa plans to major in International Business
and Broadcasting Journalism, fields which will
allow her to continue to positively impact the
world around her. Salwa is an accomplished
individual, and we are proud to announce her
selection as September Senior of the Month.
