Schaumburg High School is proud to announce a
most deserving recipient of this month’s award,
Alex Miller. Somehow, being an avid Cubs fan has
not prevented this student from coming to class
each day with a smile on his face and a warm
greeting for his teachers. When told about
achieving this recognition, his response was
telling: “I never thought that I would ever be
bestowed with such an honor. I am humbled by the
company that I am joining.”
Though involved in many activities and clubs,
Alex’s passion throughout his high school career
has revolved around the band, with his major
accomplishment being a member of the Drumline
for four years and captain for the last two. He
maintains that “the intensity of every member is
incomparable, and with this intensity, the
popularity of the Drumline among the entire
student body will grow even more in years to
come.” His litany of musical activities is
staggering: Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Quartet, Pep
Band, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Tri-M,
Marching Band, Symphony Orchestra, Cadet Band,
Jazz Combo, and Jazz Quintet; in addition, he
has performed in our school’s musical for all
four years. He is also on the newspaper staff
and is a proud member of the National Honor
Society.
His awards and recognitions are equally amazing:
Honor Roll, Foreign Language Honors Society,
IHSA State Solo and State Ensemble “Best of the
Day” Awards, “Jazz in the Meadows” Outstanding
Soloist, Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra,
Mundelein Jazz Fest Outstanding Soloist, and
IMEA District Orchestra. Finally, he has also
found the time to become engaged with these
activities in the Schaumburg community: Midwest
Young Artists Symphony, Artists Percussion
Ensemble, and WINGS Resale Store.
SHS wishes the best of luck to Alex in his
projected major of broadcast journalism at David
Letterman’s alma mater, Ball State University.
Congratulations to Alex Miller! |
